During the course you will learn: Week 1 •How to measure and wedge clay in preparation for throwing •How to center clay on the potters wheel •How to throw a cylinder •How to make a pinch pot •Clean up procedures Week 2 •About the stages of clay (soft, leather hard, bone dry, etc.) and when it is ready for trimming •Trimming your piece to create your desired profile •Adding a foot ring •Adding a handle •Carving leather hard clay •Recycling clay and maintaining a sustainable studio Week 3 •About glazes and what they do •How to prepare a glaze •How to glaze your piece •How to clean your piece after glazing to prevent accidents in the kiln This course is meant to be a fun and enriching experience and I am really excited to be able to be at a stage in my practice where I can share what I have learned. Once fired, you can pay to have your work shipped to you or come pick it up. Price includes enrollment for two students.
